Being a mother is a 24/7 responsibility…

and having a straight head on equally strong shoulders coupled with superhuman physical stamina has to be a pre-requisite.

Here are a few tips to help you stay fit, focused and along the way looking beautiful, like how all Mothers deserve to.

Breakfast of champions

All that running around requires energy and focus. After all, who’s going to be the hero and help your husband find his misplaced keys or remote (again)?

That fuel comes in the form of food and breakfast is where you start. You could opt for the easy way by stocking up on energy bars and whatnots, but where’s the fun? Whipping up your own meal is wholesome and healthier too. Whole Wheat pancakes, Open-Faced Broiled Egg, Spinach, Tomato Sandwich and Lemon Blueberry Scones not only sound tantalizing – they look justly good and provides you with the energy you will need! Have a look.

As for lunch, opt for healthy sandwiches or wraps and if you get the munchies, nibble on some healthy nuts like almonds or cashews. Dinners don’t have to be fancy, reserve that for date night because quick simple meals will do the job.

Remember to amp up the fun and get the family involved in the kitchen!

Fit to mother

Exercise your right to be the healthy and fit mom that you are! But to do that you have to, well… exercise. Finding time to engage in such activity is the main challenge but here are some ways to help you get started.

Do some light stretches the moment you get out of bed. Add some core strengthening exercises like the plank and wall sits. Do include some deep breathing exercises because your mind is equally important as your body. During the day, try to set aside 10 to 15 minutes for some light running on the spot or look up some fitness videos on YouTube and follow along. Before you retire to the bed, engage in some deep breathing exercises again. Join a yoga, cardio boxing or other fitness classes if you can afford the time. It helps to meet other Mothers both for inspiration and to inspire.

The important thing here is to actually plan and set aside some time. The benefits and rewards are too great for you not to!

Day out… side of the house

One of the most important things to do is to have a day out to yourself or friends. Get out of the house, do some shopping, have that overdue lunch date with your friends or spoil yourself at a spa. You deserve some downtime.

mothers-day Being a mother doesn’t mean you have to look all frumpy and worn out. If those frown lines are bothering you, do something about it. If bingo wings are where they shouldn’t be, get some proper advice on how to get rid of them because in truth, exercise is sometimes not enough. Don’t be shy about getting some aesthetic work done – it’s the 21st Century! Just do it the proper and safe way.

mothers-day The responsibilities of a Mother can be overwhelming at times but at the end of the day, what needs to get done has to be done. As a Mother, you are truly special in ways that you can never be thanked for enough. If we had a say, everyday would be Mother’s Day.

Don’t worry about being the best – YOU already are.
