PICOCARE is an FDA-approved Picosecond laser that can effectively treat different types of acne scars without causing Post Inflammatory HyperPigmentation.

Acne, or what we Singaporeans often call ‘pimples,’ is the first sign that shadows the puberty period. As angry as teenagers can be, I think some acne are angrier.

The boiling red angry ones that are rooted deep with a vengeance are called cystic acne. We pick on them, or rather I pick on them, because I don’t have the confidence to meet people with angry spots on my face. So I squeeze them to release the pain, with all my might and secretly, with pleasure.

It is amusing to know that 15 years later, this bad habit of mine is actually a pleasure and stress relief to some. Don’t deny that you don’t enjoy watching videos on pimple popping and blackhead squeezing on Facebook!

But it is not nearly as shiok when those squeezed acne leave us with marks and scars. Sometimes I think these acne scars are actually corpses of the cystic pimples!

My acne scars are so bad that I have a terrible case of low self-confidence. I never thought I would get married or even find a boyfriend because well… I mean who can love a moon, right?

So before you start picking on your pimples, think about the repercussion. With this bad habit, you can’t really leave your past behind because they are there staring right at you in the face in the mirror. All. The. Time.

PICOCARE Acne Scars Laser Without Causing Post Inflammatory HyperPigmentation

That is why when I heard about PICO Acne Scars Laser, I was very intrigued. And mind you, I’m hard to impress with lasers. There are so many acne scars laser treatments out there that claims to regain your youth (what youth when you grow up with pimples?!) or close the scars (unless you fill them with hot glue, I guess). In my opinion, when the laser touches your skin, your skin will be thinner, and thus you will be more susceptible to MORE pigmentation when you go outdoors. Logical, right? Apparently, this issue is called Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH).

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or PIH, is the medical term used to describe the result of skin discolouration from acne, inflamed wound or sometimes from laser treatment. Your skin produces more melanin as the skin heals. This usually happens to sensitive skin or even for those with medium to dark skin tone. They tend to last for a few weeks or even years!

PICOCARE is an FDA-approved Picosecond laser that comes with a fractional handpiece that targets a wide range of spot sizes for better precision.

PICO Acne Scars Laser can treat different types of acne scars such as rolling scars, boxcar scars, atrophic scars and hyperthrophic scars. What it does is that its laser energy penetrates deep into the skin treating targeted acne scars without causing damage to the skin surface. The 450-picosecond pulse results in higher efficacy, lesser downtime and improved safety for the skin.
